Darren Grimshaw |
A die-hard Manchester United fan, Darren
Grimshaw was given a LIFETIME ban from home and away matches after he punched a steward.
Darren
Grimshaw was at Old Trafford for the Reds’ game against West Brom in
April when he attacked a worker who asked him to sit down, a court
heard.
The
51-year-old season ticket holder from Newton Heath - who has been a fan
since he was 14 - first started swearing at the steward 15 minutes into
the game.
Prosecuting at Manchester magistrates’ court in March 2017, Katie Beattie said that fans were not allowed to stand during
moments of intensity during the game - but Grimshaw remained standing,
which is against club policy.
She said: “The defendant was asked
to sit down several times by the steward. He then said, ‘Shut up or I
will f***** hammer you.”
